High school students invited to learn about research opportunities in the pharmaceutical sciences

On 27 March, Professor Maria Vertzoni and Jonas Kusch (ESR 9) again invited students to the Department of Pharmacy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Four pictures showing Prof. Maria Vertzoni and ESR Jonas Kusch presenting the AGePOP project to students.

Following the success of the first visit by high schoolers, students from three additional high schools were introduced to the pharmaceutical sciences, the study programmes, and the current research activities of the department. Professor Maria Vertzoni informed the students about research opportunities funded by the European Union and presented the AGePOP project and its research objectives. At the end of the day, the students were given a tour of the Biopharmacy and Pharmacokinetics Laboratory, where Jonas Kusch reported on his personal experiences as a PhD student. He spoke about his research project, the exciting challenges one faces when living abroad and working in an international environment, and the advantages of working in a well-networked European research project.

We thank the students for their interest and are happy if we could encourage and inspire them to consider a career in science after graduation.
